Step into a sacred space where movement and stillness meet.
Contemplative Dance Practice (CDP) is a gentle, structured exploration of conscious movement–no dance experience required. Each session unfolds in three parts:
Guided Meditation (20 min) — Arrive, settle, and drop in
Personal Awareness Practice (20 min) — Your own warm-up, at your own pace
Open Space (20 min) — Moving and witnessing together as a group
Developed by postmodern dance artist and Buddhist practitioner Barbara Dilley in the 1970s, CDP creates a sacred container for movement exploration and sitting practice — a place to discover what it means to move consciously, both alone and together.
This session is led by Kristen Stake — Maine modern dance artist, licensed therapist, and practitioner of somatics and expressive arts therapies — and a member of the Maine Center for Sacred Arts council.
$15 suggested with Venmo or cash. No one turned away for lack of funds!
Silence during practice and no entry after 7pm—thank you for respecting our sacred container.
